Computers and Telecommunications

 

Writing

All sections:
  • Use one or more word processing programs for writing fieldnotes, papers, and projects
  • Access local WWW sites for down-loading course syllabi, assignments, readings, responding to readings and pre-and post-course evaluation instruments, and sending fieldnotes clinical teaching experiences
  • Use telecommunications to mediate the formulation, articulation, reflection, and communication on clinical experiences
  • Participate in local and distant computer-mediated discussion groups
  • Compose and send fieldnotes and learning journals to faculty through e-mail
  • Use the internet and search engines to locate information
  • Take steps for understanding the technology requirement for licensure, respond to the NCDPI Technology self-assessment, and take initial steps to demonstrate competence

In addition, Fifth Dimension sections:

  • Participate in local and distant video-mediated conferences
  • Engage in participatory design projects for educational software with children

 

All sections:
  • Engage in the Writing Process with faculty to master the written genres used by in-service teachers.
  • Write journals and fieldnotes for the purpose of formulating, articulating, and reflecting on course and clinical experiences and:
  1. Present critical analysis and reflection on clinical experiences and course readings
  2. Demonstrate progress in ability to write, critically analyze, and reflect on experiences
  • Develop major papers, beginning professional portfolios, and other projects that:
  1. Reveal an understanding of purpose and audience
  2. Include details, examples to support claims, argument, or main points
  3. Demonstrate a willingness to engage in critical analysis of one’s writing and make appropriate revisions
  4. Meet standards of professional writing expected of teachers
